Every Day Faith. Faith Every Day.

Still Saturday: Try It

So, friends, what will you try this weekend?

Me?
I think I’ll try to embrace this last bit of summer.
{the kids are back to school on Tuesday}
Maybe a book in the hammock.
Or a visit to the Lancaster County Fair to ride the Ferris wheel.
Maybe a BLT made with juicy, red-ripe tomatoes.
Or an iced coffee, sitting on the sun-hot front step.

Or maybe, I’ll simply sit back and see what happens.

I like your idea of a book in the hammock. I will join you by reading in my backyard this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration.

It’s dawning into the perfect day for a backyard read, Jean. Have a wonderfully relaxing and refreshing day.

It’s pretty muggy and hot in St. Louis, Michelle, so we’re trying a Hitchchock thrilleer (Shadow of a Doubt) in a local movie theatre that shows classic films this morning. I’ll try not to keep book-dabbling and finish one I really want to. I’ll try putting away the rest of the guidebooks from our trip to the UK. We’ve been home over two weeks, and I STILL haven’t done that. I’ll try iced tea with lemon and mint. I’ll try selecting a planner for next year–I can never find the perfect one. I’ll try to kick perfectionism in the gut–it keeps entangling me. I’ll try journaling my heart out to the Lord. And may I suggest that you try your BLTs on raisin toast? Most people don’t eat them that way, but they’re fabulous (and organic bacon wihtout nitrates–oh I’m naughty to bring that up:-). May you and your family have a joyous end to summer (which actually is September 19th, I think).
    love you,
    lynn

I rode the ferris wheel at the fair last night! Now for that BLT on raisin toast (intriguing!).

A blessed and fruitful weekend to you, Lynn!

I love Julia Cameron’s wisdom, I finished the Right to Write on vacation. I’m getting ready to savor the last chapters of a book as the sun sets on Sabbath. Hope you have a good one Michelle.

An iced-coffee and a book on the patio sounds wonderful! But my summer will end with spending time together as a family. We head out this week to visit my son who I haven’t seen in 6 months! I can’t wait.
    Blessings to you, Michelle.

A BLT with summer tomatoes is my favorite- and a book in a hammock – totally delightful! Wishing you delightful moments these few days before school!

Well, I hope your weekend was a very good one. I’m catching up now; sorry I didn’t manage to pursue it then, when posted. But, as usual, you’re a treaty kind of Mom. Hope to see you again before winter kicks in and forces us to stay close to home.

Living out faith in the everyday is no joke. If you’re anything like me, some days you feel full of confidence and hope, eager to proclaim God’s goodness and love to the world. Other days…not so much.

Let me say straight up: I wrestle with my faith. Most days I feel a little bit like Jacob, wrangling his blessing out of God. And most days I’m okay with that. I believe God made me a questioner and a wrestler for a reason, and I believe one of those reasons is so that I can connect more authentically with others.
