Anyone else besides me have trouble returning to and resting in God? I know. It’s harder than it sounds, isn’t it?
But here’s the deal: God gives us infinite grace, which means even when we turn away from him, even when we wrestle our lives with all our might instead of resting in and trusting in him, he gives us the chance to return and rest, again, and again and again.
Keep returning to him, friends; return to rest in him. He will welcome you back with open arms every single time. Amen.
Awaking today to God’s refreshing restoring anew mercies and compassions…returning to Him! God bless!
Thanks for this reminder. I am a “functional atheist” I am afraid–way too often. I pray in the morning and then take things into my own hands the rest of the day, functioning as though life depended totally on me. I become, in effect, my own God.
That’s been His message to me of late, Michelle. Thanks for the confirmation and encouragement.
Yours is part of the reminding chorus of voices–still, slow, stop, see…. May God rejuvenate you as you listen to Him, Michelle. (so glad you got to visit ‘our’ coast…)
Like I mentioned on FB, this is my life verse. I have a story I could write about how I first realized this…and the years it took to get the idea of what resting in God means and how to practice it. (Maybe this is a reminder that I should write that story, huh? It’s connected with another piece about original sin that I’ve been struggling with and that’s too long for the blog I think.) At any rate, resting in God is something of surrender. What is it like for you?
