Every Day Faith. Faith Every Day.

On My Bookshelves

Books are my love language, and reading will always be my pastime of choice. Tell me I have a whole unscheduled day all to myself, and I will always choose to spend it reading, preferably with a cup of coffee in my hand, two squares of dark chocolate on a fancy plate at my side, and my favorite afghan over my knees.

From time to time I write about my favorite reads here. For example, the last couple of years I’ve written year-end book posts, in which I pick my top favorite reads of the year. I finally decided I should keep these book posts all in one place, just in case there are any fellow book nerds out there like me who are looking for their next good read.  You’ll find all my book posts listed below, beginning with the most recent.

Some of these posts contain affiliate links, which means if you click through and make a purchase on Amazon, they  pay me a small percentage in return. I receive my payments in electronic Amazon gift cards so I can then turn around and purchase more books. Because of course!

That said, I treasure the two independent bookstores we have here in Lincoln, Nebraska, so if you, too, have the opportunity to buy your books through an indie store, I say go for it, by all means.

As the poet Rainer Maria Rilke said, “Ah, how good it is to be among people who are reading.” Happy book browsing, friends.

Connect with me on social media

Living out faith in the everyday is no joke. If you’re anything like me, some days you feel full of confidence and hope, eager to proclaim God’s goodness and love to the world. Other days…not so much.

Let me say straight up: I wrestle with my faith. Most days I feel a little bit like Jacob, wrangling his blessing out of God. And most days I’m okay with that. I believe God made me a questioner and a wrestler for a reason, and I believe one of those reasons is so that I can connect more authentically with others.
